History Is On Our Side
I have to begin this article with a big "Thank You" to Bill Sizemore for his well-timed article "Are Conservatives Winning or Losing?". (Link Below) Like a vitamin B-12 shot, I feel that reading this will provide a much-needed shot in the arm to some of my fellow patriots. To summarize the article, Mr. Sizemore makes the case that liberals are strongly demoralized and have a defeatist attitude concerning their political agenda. We are winning the war for the hearts and minds of our fellow Americans.
Thanks should also be given to those of you that love America and have stood by our president while he has come under constant attack from the liberal left. I feared that some of you may be giving in, but Mr. Sizemore's article helped to put things in perspective. Those of you that love America won't budge an inch. History will prove us right.
Now, let's examine what has been taking place on the political battlefield. The Democrats have shown their true colors by voicing their opposition to the efforts of the United States in the war on terrorism. Their rallying point centers on charges that President Bush lied to the American public about Iraqi attempts to procure uranium from Africa. Yet British intelligence stands by their belief that this intel was indeed, true. To accuse the leader of our country of such a gross misdeed is not only irresponsible, it is treasonous. The American public must not forget those who have participated in this smear campaign against President Bush, especially during such dire times. Let's not forget that these are the same people that insulted the integrity of our special ops forces by claiming that the Jessica Lynch rescue was a set-up straight out of Hollywood.
Daily the media reports of another attack on American forces in Iraq. This was expected. Did anyone think all Iraqis would welcome us with open arms? The war was relatively easy, only after we occupied Baghdad did we get to the hard part. Obviously Saddam's supporters and terrorists from other countries are behind the attacks on our troops. Yet the media gleefully chooses to present a Vietnam-like scenario nightly on the evening news. Is the media attempting to play politics, to create doubt amongst not only our fellow Americans but also those in the world who would judge us? Can they truly believe that freeing Iraq and removing a supporter of terrorism was WRONG? The media, the Democrats, and their anti-war supporters would have us quit; to walk away from Iraq simply because they don't believe we have the mettle to see this thing thru. That's not the American way.
The media and the Democrats are now relying on HINDSIGHT to attack President Bush in their attempt to discredit him and the war on terror. Democrats such as Jay Rockefeller were privy to the same intel reports that President Bush received; yet admit that they did not speak out prior to the war because AT THAT TIME Saddam Hussein appeared to pose a risk. In other words, they knew exactly what President Bush knew. We are still learning the extent to which Saddam posed a threat and what ties he had to terrorist groups. Reports appear to be inconclusive in terms to what kind of immediate threat Iraq posed to the United States. It can be generally agreed that were sanctions to ever be lifted against Iraq, Saddam Hussein was prepared to reconstitute his nuclear program. It can also be agreed that allowing Saddam Hussein to join the nuclear club would not be a good thing. History will prove that we were right to act against Iraq.
After 9-11, most Americans prefer that we err on the side of caution with respect to these kinds of threats. President Bush is under attack for acting on what intel we had, while the FBI is facing condemnation for NOT acting prior to 9-11. Imagine the outcry from the ACLU and CAIR had the FBI rounded up 19 Muslim men on Sept. 10th! The same condemnation and scrutiny President Bush is confronted with FOR ACTING when faced with a perceived threat from Iraq! Our enemies will make political hay out of virtually any scenario.
Imagine this same scenario 62 years ago: President Franklin D. Roosevelt launches a pre-emptive strike against the Empire of Japan based on intel that Japan posed a hostile threat to American security. Would the critics of FDR find flaws in his case? Imagine how different our world would be today if FDR had faced the same type of political attacks that President Bush faces today. Since he would have prevented the attacks at Pearl Harbor, his critics could have argued that Japan did not represent a danger to American interests. Would Europe and Russia then be forced to deal with Nazi Germany alone, without US support?
With ultimate victory over England and Russia, one of the world's most evil dictators would have reigned supreme over Europe. We won't delve into what kind of fate those would-be victims would have met as his policy of genocide continued unopposed.
Apply this to the events of today and we can only imagine what kind of world our children might inherit if we fail to live up to our duty to destroy evil in this world. Let's face it; the USA is the world's lone superpower. The UN is a corrupt organization, which ultimately cares very little about freedom and justice. We cannot rely on them to protect our interests. We cannot rely on the Democrats to protect our interests. The Democrats believe that any action taken by the United States must first receive UN approval!
We cannot allow President Bush, who has been given a mandate by the American public to destroy terrorism, to be hamstrung in future efforts to make the world safer for America. To allow liberals to hinder us in this mission would prove perilous to not only ourselves, but to our children and the rest of the world. Good always prevails, over both evil and those willing to compromise with evil. We must keep up the fight. It won't be easy and sacrifices will have to be made. History has always demanded that of those on the side of right.
